Plans and credits
Chat is open to everyone. Building and generating — websites, images, video, agents and the rest — needs a paid plan, and every AI action spends credits from your balance.
Volnyn has two ideas that work together:
- Your plan decides what you can use. On the free plan you can chat. Anything the assistant makes — a website, an image, a deck, an agent run — is part of the paid plans.
- Credits decide how much you can use. Every AI action costs a set number of credits, taken from your balance when it runs.
This page explains both, where to see them, and how to upgrade.
Where to see your plan and credits
Open the account menu (your name at the bottom of the left sidebar). The card at the top shows your plan name, an Upgrade button, and your Credits balance. Click the credits row to open the full Usage panel.
You can also get there from Settings → Usage in the same menu.
| Where | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Account menu → plan card | Plan name, credits balance, Upgrade |
| Settings → Usage | Balance, plan limits with progress bars, and what you spent this month by feature |
| Settings → Billing | Current plan, renewal date, saved card, invoices — see Billing and invoices |

What is free and what is paid
| Free for everyone | Needs a paid plan |
|---|---|
| Chat with the assistant | AI website and app building |
| AI images, video, music, voiceover, 3D models | |
| Presentations, spreadsheets, AI documents | |
| Deep research, fact checking, translation, podcasts, clips | |
| The Agents workspace, the AI employee (Claw), automations and workflows | |
| The live browser agent, the cloud computer, AI phone calls |
The rule is simple: chat is the conversation, what chat builds is the product. Reading tools inside a chat — web search, weather, reading a connected inbox — stay part of the conversation. Tools that produce a deliverable (generate an image, build a site, run an agent) are paid.
If you ask for a paid feature on a free account, Volnyn does not show an error. It tells you which feature is part of the paid plans and opens the plan picker so you can upgrade on the spot.
A free trial is not a paid plan, and neither is the free package every new account starts on. A plan counts as paid when it was actually bought.
How credits work
Every AI action has a credit cost. The plan cards on the upgrade page list the current costs under Credit costs — for example a chat message, an AI image, an AI video and an AI website build — so you can see what a plan buys before you pay.
Credits come from up to three places:
| Source | How it works |
|---|---|
| Monthly plan credits | Paid plans include an amount of credits each month. The Usage panel shows how many you have used and the date they reset. |
| Daily free credits | Some plans add free credits once a day. The Usage panel shows the daily amount and how many hours until the next refresh. |
| Your balance | What you actually spend from. Plan credits land here; if you use more than your plan includes, the rest comes out of the balance and the Usage panel says so. |
Some plans show Unlimited instead of a number.
Chat messages cost credits too — they are free to access, not free to run. If your balance runs out, AI actions stop until you top up or your plan credits refresh.
For the fine print on consumption, see the Help Center:

Website builds and edits
AI website builds and follow-up edits are charged from the same balance. Depending on how the platform is configured, a build is charged either by the AI work it actually used or as a flat amount per build and per change. Either way, the cost shows up in your Usage panel under Website builds and Website edits. See How does AI Website billing work?
The Usage panel
Settings → Usage is the one place to answer "how much do I have left and where did it go?"
| Section | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| Balance | Credits available right now, with a Buy more button. |
| Plan limits | Progress bars for Daily free credits and Monthly plan credits, with the reset time for each. |
| This month | Your top features by credits spent since the first of the month (chat, images, website builds, and so on), with a total. |
Upgrading your plan
- Click Upgrade in the account menu, or go to
/user/package-list. - Pick Monthly or Annually at the top. Some plans come as one card with a credits dropdown so you can choose the amount.
- Each card shows its price, credits per month, and per-action credit costs. Your current plan is marked Current.
- Click the plan's button. With card payments enabled you go straight to a secure Stripe checkout; otherwise you pick a payment method on the checkout page.
- After payment, the plan and its credits are added to your account.
When the new plan starts
- You have no paid plan — the new one starts right away.
- You already have a paid plan with time left — the new plan is queued and starts the day after the current one ends, so you never lose time you paid for.
- Your current plan is a trial or a lifetime plan — the new plan replaces it immediately.
You can have at most one plan queued behind the current one. If you already have a queued plan, or a manual payment that is still waiting for approval, the upgrade page asks you to wait until that is settled.
Prices and currency
All plans are priced and charged in US dollars. The price on the plan card is the amount charged at checkout and the amount on your invoice. Your bank may convert it to your local currency and add its own fee.
Prices are set by Volnyn and can change; the upgrade page always shows the current ones. See Can I pay in local currency?
FAQ
Is chat really free?
Access is free — you do not need a paid plan to chat. Each message still uses a small number of credits from your balance.
Why did the assistant say a feature is "part of the paid plans"?
You asked for something that builds or generates (a site, an image, an agent run) on a free or trial account. Upgrade from the plan picker that opens, then send the request again.
I upgraded but still don't have enough credits. What now?
Check Settings → Usage to see where your credits went, then buy more from Buy more. See What should I do if I still don't have enough credits after upgrading?
Do unused monthly credits roll over?
Monthly plan credits reset on the date shown under Monthly plan credits in the Usage panel. See What happens to my credits after canceling?
Can I switch between monthly and annual?
Yes — buy the plan you want on the other tab. It follows the start-date rules above. See How can I change my annual membership to monthly?
Does a team share credits?
Teams can cap what members spend. See Team and Where can I see credits usage in a team workspace?
