Multiple sites

Run more than one website from a single Volnyn account. Create sites from a template, a blank canvas, or AI, switch between them, and pick which one is your default.

Your Volnyn account is not limited to one website. Each site has its own theme, content, languages, settings, and address. You manage them all from one list and jump into any site's dashboard with a click.

Open your sites at Sites (/user/sites).

What a site is

A site is one website you own. Everything you edit in the site dashboard — pages, menus, blog posts, shop items, SEO — belongs to the site you currently have open.

Detail What it means
Name The label you see in your sites list. You can change it without changing the address.
Slug The short name used in the site's address (for example my-bakery). Letters, numbers, and dashes only.
Theme The template design the site uses.
Default The site Volnyn treats as your main one. Only one site can be the default.
Status Active sites are visible to visitors. Inactive sites are hidden.
Source Sites you build from a template or blank canvas, or sites Created with AI. AI sites show an AI Project badge.

The sites list

On /user/sites you see every site you own, newest first, with a live preview thumbnail. Use Search to find a site by name.

Each site card has these actions:

Action What it does
Dashboard Opens the site dashboard for that site.
Edit Site Opens the visual editor for a template site.
Edit AI Opens the AI builder for an AI-built site.
View Live Opens the published site in a new tab.
Set Default Makes this your default site.
Duplicate this site Makes a full copy — settings, languages, and content — named "(Copy)".
Delete this site Deletes the site. Your default site cannot be deleted.
Active / Inactive Shows or hides the site from visitors.

AI-built sites appear in the list once their first build has finished or they have been published. Builds that are still running stay hidden until they complete.

Create a new site

  1. Go to Sites (/user/sites).
  2. Click Create New Site (/user/sites/create).
  3. Choose how you want to start.

You have three ways to start:

Describe it to AI

Type what you want to build, for example "Restaurant website with menu, gallery and reservations." You can:

  • Pick one of the Try an example prompts.
  • Attach a design reference — upload a screenshot or mockup and the AI matches your design.
  • Use Generate structure to have the AI draft a page and section plan first.

Volnyn may ask a few quick questions so it builds the right site. Tap an option or type your own answer, then click Build my site. See Create your first website for a full walkthrough.

Start from a template

  1. Click Start from a template (/user/sites/create/template).
  2. Browse the gallery. Featured templates are pinned to the top, and community Remix templates appear next to the built-in ones.
  3. Open a template's demo to preview it, then pick it.
  4. Enter a name for your site. Volnyn creates the slug from the name and adds a number if you already use it.

The new site opens on its dashboard home, ready to edit.

Start from a blank canvas

Go to /user/sites/create/blank. Volnyn creates a site called My Site with a clean starting layout and opens it straight in the visual editor. Rename it later from your sites list.

Switch between sites

Click Dashboard on any site in your list (it opens in a new tab). Everything you open in the site dashboard now applies to that site until you switch again.

You can also switch with /user/sites/switch/{id}, which takes you to that site's dashboard home.

Always check which site is open before you edit. Blog posts, shop items, and settings are saved to the current site.

Your default site

Your default site is your main website — the one Volnyn uses when it needs a single site for your account.

  • To change it, click Set Default on another site.
  • The default site cannot be deleted. Make another site the default first.

Duplicate a site

Duplicate this site makes an independent copy. It copies:

  • The site's settings and theme
  • Its languages
  • Its content (pages, sections, posts, items, and so on)
  • Your active plan, so the copy has the same features

The copy gets a new slug ending in -copy. Changes to the copy never affect the original.

Delete a site

  1. Click Delete this site on the site card.
  2. Confirm in the dialog.

The site is removed from your list and its visual-editor pages are archived. Treat this as permanent — there is no restore button. If you might need the site again, duplicate it or make it Inactive instead.

Your default site is protected — you will see "You cannot delete your default site" if you try.

Site addresses: subdomain, path, or custom domain

Every site has a live address. Which one visitors use depends on your plan and what you have set up.

Address type Example When it is used
Custom domain www.yourbrand.com You connected a domain you own and it is active. Always wins.
Subdomain my-bakery.volnyn.com Your plan includes subdomains.
Path-based URL volnyn.com/templates/my-bakery Your plan does not include subdomains.

AI-built sites use their own publishing address on the AI sites domain (for example my-bakery.volnyn.site). See Publish your Volnyn site.

Change the subdomain

  1. Open the site's dashboard.
  2. Go to Domains and URLs → Subdomain and Path URL (/user/subdomain).
  3. Type a new subdomain, for example my-site.
  4. Click Create Subdomain or Update Subdomain.

Rules:

  • 2 to 63 characters.
  • Letters, numbers, and dashes only. It cannot start or end with a dash.
  • It must be unique across Volnyn. If someone already uses it, you will see "This subdomain is already taken."

The Live Site URL card on the same page always shows the address visitors use right now.

Connect a custom domain

For AI-built sites, use Domains and URLs → Custom Domain (/user/site/ai-domain). Follow Connect a custom domain.

For template sites, custom domains are available on plans that include Custom Domain:

  1. Go to Domains and URLs → Custom Domain (/user/domains).
  2. Click Request Custom Domain and enter the domain in the format shown.
  3. Send the request. It shows as Pending until the Volnyn team connects it, then Active.

If you request a new domain while one is already connected, the new one replaces the old one once it goes live.

Buy a domain

Don't own a domain yet? Go to Domains and URLs → Buy a Domain (/user/domain-purchase/search) to search and buy one. Domains you bought are listed under Purchased Domains (/user/domain-purchase/list), where you can manage name servers and auto-renewal.

Tips

  • Name sites clearly — "Bakery (English)" and "Bakery (Arabic)" are easier to tell apart than "Site 2".
  • Duplicate a finished site to start a similar one faster, instead of building from scratch.
  • Make a site Inactive while you work on it, then switch it to Active when it is ready.

FAQ

How many sites can I have? You can create sites from /user/sites. What each site can do depends on your plan's features.

Does renaming a site change its address? No. The address comes from the slug or subdomain, not the display name.

Can I move content between sites? Duplicate the site to copy everything at once. There is no tool to move single posts or items between sites.

Why doesn't my new AI site show up in the list? AI sites appear once the first build finishes or the site is published. Wait for the build to complete, then refresh.

Why can't I delete a site? It is your default site. Set another site as the default first.

What happens to a site's address when I duplicate it? The copy gets its own slug (the original slug plus -copy). Set a new subdomain for it if you want.
