Websites from chat

Pick Website under the composer, describe the site, and Volnyn builds it in a preview beside the conversation. Every message after that edits the same site.

A website chat is a normal conversation with one difference: it is tied to a site. The first message builds it. Later messages change it. The preview panel on the right always shows the current version.

Open Dashboard → New task (/user/chat) and click Website under the composer. You can also go straight to /user/chat?mode=website.

Build a site

1. Click Website under the composer.
2. Describe the site: what the business is, who it is for, and what the site needs to do. Attach a logo or photo with + → Upload image if you want it used.
3. Press Enter.
4. If your request is short, Volnyn asks a few questions first (see below). Answer them, or skip them.
5. The build starts. Progress shows in the conversation, and the preview opens on the right when there is something to see.

When the build finishes, the site is usually published to a free Volnyn subdomain straight away, so you get a live link without an extra step.

The questions before a first build

A request like "a website for my shop" leaves too much open, so Volnyn asks 3 to 5 questions written for your request — new or refurbished stock, which brands, checkout or enquiry-only, and so on. Each question has 2 to 4 answers to pick from, with a line on what that answer means for the build.

• Pick an answer, or type your own in Write your own….
• Use ‹ and › to move between questions. The counter shows where you are (for example 2 / 4).
• Build it on the last question starts the build with your answers.
• Skip all builds from your original message and lets Volnyn decide the rest.

A long, detailed request skips the questions entirely and builds straight away.

Build from a reference site

Put the address of a site you like in your message ("Build a site for my dental clinic, laid out like https://example.com"), or use + → Add reference website, paste the URL and click Add reference. Volnyn opens that page and matches its design — colours, layout and style — while building your site with your own content. Reference builds skip the questions.

Build or Plan

In website mode the composer has a Build / Plan switch.

With Plan on, read the plan and then:

• Build this plan — builds exactly what was agreed.
• Keep planning — stays in plan mode. Reply with what to change and it re-plans.
• Build anyway — appears if a plan couldn't be drafted; builds from your message instead.

Switch between the two with ⌥ P (Option-P on a Mac, Alt-P on Windows). Your choice is remembered in this browser.

Edit the site

Once a site is built, stay in the same chat and say what should change. Each message edits the open site — it never starts a new one. To build a different site, start a new chat.

• "Make the header dark green."
• "Add a FAQ section under the pricing table."
• "Add an About page and link it from the menu."

Most edits run straight away. If an instruction is too vague to act on safely — "make it better", "change the colour" — Volnyn asks one or two short questions with one-tap answers. Skip — let AI decide runs the edit as written.

Point at what you mean

A floating toolbar over the preview lets you show Volnyn what to change instead of describing it.

Attach an image to an edit

Attach an image with + → Upload image and say where it goes — "use this as the logo", "make this the hero background". Volnyn uploads it and uses that exact image.

Version history

Click the History (clock) button in the header of a website chat.

• History lists every version, newest first, numbered from v1 · Created. The version that is live carries a Published badge.
• Click a version to take the site back to it.
• Star a version to Bookmark it. Bookmarked versions are listed on the Bookmarks tab.

Sharing and publishing

The Share project panel in the preview has two parts:

• Invite by email — invite people to view your website.
• Share link — switch it on to get the site's public link, then Copy it.

Under General access, anyone with the link Can view the published site. Can edit is marked Soon and isn't available yet.

Tips

• One site per chat. Follow-ups always edit the site the chat is attached to.
• Name the business and the audience. It changes the copy more than any design instruction.
• Use Plan for big changes. Agreeing a plan first costs nothing and avoids a rebuild you didn't want.
• Use Select or Ask AI when "the second button in the third section" is hard to describe.
• Use the follow-up suggestions above the composer after a build — "Add a contact form", "Swap the photos" and similar — for quick common changes.

FAQ

Why did Volnyn ask me questions instead of building? Your request was short enough that a guess could miss. Answer them or click Skip all. A detailed first message skips the questions.

My follow-up built a brand-new site. Why? It shouldn't — follow-ups in the same chat edit the open site. If you started a new chat, that chat has no site yet, so its first website message builds one. Go back to the original chat from your history to keep editing.

How do I undo a change? Open History and click the version you want to go back to.

The live site doesn't show my latest edit. Hard-refresh the page. If it still looks old, check that the last build finished. See Publish your Volnyn site.

Does building a website need a paid plan? On the standard setup, yes. Chat itself is free, but building opens the plans sheet on an account without a paid plan.

Can other people edit my site? Not yet. You can invite people to view it and share its link. Editing access is marked Soon.
