Deep research and fact check

Ask a question in plain chat and the assistant searches the web for you. When you need more, Deep Research writes a long, cited report, and Fact Check checks a claim against sources and gives each part a verdict.

Volnyn has three levels of web research:

Web search in plain chat

You don't need a special mode to search the web. In ordinary chat, the assistant decides from your message what kind of lookup it needs.

Questions you want answered — news, "latest X", comparisons ("iPhone 16 Pro vs Galaxy S25 Ultra"), specs, reviews, facts — are searched quickly and answered in the chat. The status line shows "Searching the web". Under the answer you get an image strip where relevant and a Sources list with every page used. Click the list to expand all sources.

Results are tailored to your country unless you name another one ("…in the UK").

Tasks on a website go to the live browser instead: when you name a site ("check on OLX…", "go to …"), look up listings, ask what one product costs today or whether it's in stock, or ask for something that needs a login or a form. The assistant says where it's going, opens the site, and reports back in chat with links to what it found.

The live browser needs a paid plan and may not be enabled on every account. Where it runs depends on your setup:

  • In your own Chrome — when you've connected My Browser through the Volnyn extension. You can click Take over to drive yourself, then Continue to hand it back.
  • On a cloud computer — when you have one. You watch its screen; if the site needs a login or other help, the panel asks you to step in, then Continue.
  • As a live screen in the panel otherwise. If a site asks you to prove you're human, solve the check right in the panel and click I've solved it — Continue.

If a browse can't finish, the assistant tells you why and offers a quick web search instead.

Deep Research

Deep Research reads widely before it writes. It runs many searches, opens and reads each source, and turns what it found into a report.

To run a report

  1. In the chat composer, open + → AI agents → Deep Research, or go to /user/chat?mode=deepresearch.
  2. Enter a research topic or question — up to 1,500 characters. Be specific about what you want to know and for whom.
  3. Send, and keep the tab open.

Progress runs through four stages: Think, Parallel Search, Parallel Read and Synthesize Report. Most reports take one to three minutes, sometimes longer. If a run takes more than eight minutes, it stops with "Deep Research took too long. Please try again."

What the report contains

  1. "Deep researched — N sources".
  2. A header with the title and an executive summary.
  3. Images taken from the sources, when there are any.
  4. Key Findings — the main points as bullets.
  5. Detailed Analysis — a section per aspect of the topic.
  6. Conclusion.
  7. Sources — the first eight, then Show all N sources.

Numbers in square brackets like [3] are citations. Click one to open that source.

The report is saved in the conversation, so you can come back to it or ask follow-up questions underneath.

Fact Check

Fact Check breaks a statement into its separate claims and checks each one against sources on the web.

To check a claim

  1. In the chat composer, open + → AI agents → Fact Check, or go to /user/chat?mode=factcheck.
  2. Paste the claim, headline or paragraph — up to 5,000 characters.
  3. Send.

The verdicts

Verdict Meaning
✅ True The sources support the claim.
❌ False The sources contradict the claim.
⚠️ Partly True Some of it holds and some doesn't, or it lacks important context.
❓ Unverifiable There isn't enough reliable evidence either way.

What the result contains

  • A headline ("Fact Check: …") and a short summary.
  • Claims Analyzed — a table of each statement and its verdict.
  • A section per claim with the verdict, an explanation and Evidence quotes linked to their sources.
  • Conclusion.
  • An evidence appendix listing each piece of evidence, whether it supports or goes against the claim, and how to cite it.

Tips

  • For Deep Research, ask a real question. "What are the main risks of solar farms for local farmland, with evidence from Europe" gives a sharper report than "solar farms".
  • For Fact Check, paste the exact words. Paraphrasing a claim can change its meaning.
  • Read the sources for anything important. Both tools cite where each point came from, so you can check.
  • Stay in plain chat for quick questions. Deep Research is slower and uses more credits.

FAQ

Which should I use — plain chat or Deep Research? Plain chat for a question with a short answer. Deep Research when you want a report you could hand to someone else.

Can I leave the page while Deep Research runs? Keep the tab open until the report arrives. It is saved in the chat once it's done.

Do these need a paid plan? Web search in plain chat is part of ordinary chat. Deep Research, Fact Check and the live browser need a paid plan on the standard setup.

Why did the assistant open a browser instead of answering? You named a site, asked about a product's current price or stock, or asked for something done on a website. Those go to the live browser so you see the real page. Ask it to "just search" if you'd rather have a quick answer.

What if Fact Check says Unverifiable? There wasn't enough reliable evidence. That isn't the same as false. Try giving more context — who said it, when, and where.
