Images and video

Describe a picture or a short clip in chat and Volnyn makes it. Edit it by replying, animate a still into video, and cut long videos into short vertical highlights with Clip Genius.

Volnyn has three ways to make visual media:

Everything you make is saved to your libraries: AI Images (/user/ai-images) and AI Videos (/user/ai-videos).

Images in chat

1. Open chat (/user/chat) and click Image & Video under the composer. You can also go straight to /user/chat?mode=image.
2. Describe the picture — subject, setting, mood, and what it's for.
3. Press Enter.

Volnyn decides from your wording whether you asked for a picture or a clip. A picture request returns a set of four images to choose from. Short prompts are expanded into a fuller art-direction brief before generating; long, detailed prompts are used as written.

Refine by replying

After the first picture, every message in the same chat edits the latest image instead of starting a new one:

• "Make the background a sunset."
• "Add a red scarf."
• "Turn it into a watercolour."

To start over with a different picture, start a new chat.

Edit your own photo

1. In Image & Video mode, attach a photo with + → Upload image, or paste it into the box. PNG, JPG, WebP or GIF, up to 15 MB.
2. Say what to change.
3. Send.

If the instruction is vague, Volnyn may ask one quick question with a few one-tap answers first. Detailed instructions go straight through.

Photo apps

Ready-made photo tools are listed under Image Tools on the agents page (/user/ai-tools). Each opens image mode with the task set up — attach your photo and, where asked, fill in one detail.

Video in chat

Ask for a clip in Image & Video mode ("a 6-second clip of waves rolling onto a beach at dawn"), or use the AI Video mode from + → AI agents.

Before generating, Volnyn reads back what it understood and asks how long the clip should be. If you ask for more than the models can make in one go, it tells you and makes the longest clip it can. Clips made in chat are landscape (16:9) at 720p. Use AI Image Studio for vertical video or other settings.

A clip usually takes 30 seconds to 2 minutes. You can have up to 3 videos generating at once.

Animate an image

Under a set of generated images, pick one and click Animate. That frame becomes the first frame of the video, and your prompt describes the motion:

"Slow push-in, the subject turns their head slightly, soft background blur."

Don't re-describe what is already in the picture — describe what moves and how the camera behaves.

AI Image Studio

Open Apps Video and Image in the left sidebar, or go to /user/ai-image. Use /user/ai-image?type=video to open it with a video model selected. The old /user/ai-video address redirects here.

Image settings

Prompts can be up to 1,500 characters. The aspect ratio applies to Volnyn Image.

When an image is ready you can Download it, Open in Library, Edit it, Regenerate it, or start New. Edit asks you to "Describe the change you want" and keeps the current aspect ratio unless you pick another.

Video settings

Choose a video model from the Model picker:

Veo clips are at most 8 seconds. Longer clips come from the other models. To animate a still, attach it or use Animate — image-to-video works with the Veo models.

Clip Genius

Clip Genius takes a long video and finds its strongest moments, then cuts each one into a vertical clip with burned-in captions — ready for Reels, Shorts or TikTok.

On the Clip Genius page (/user/ai-clips)

1. Under New Reel Pack, choose Upload video or YouTube URL.
2. Drop in a file (MP4, MOV, WEBM, MKV or AVI, up to 600 MB and 60 minutes long) or paste the link.
3. Set How many clips? — from 3 to 10, default 5.
4. Click Generate Clips.

In chat, pick Clip Genius from + → AI agents, then paste a YouTube link or attach a video file and send. Chat makes 5 clips.

Progress runs through four steps: fetching the source video, transcribing the audio, picking the best moments, and cutting and reformatting each clip.

Each clip is:

• a vertical 1080 × 1920 MP4 with captions burned in,
• 15 to 60 seconds long, starting and ending on full sentences,
• given a title, a score and a short reason it was picked.

Use Save to download a clip or Open to watch it. Past packs are listed under Recent Reels, marked Ready, Processing or Failed.

Check your file before uploading: credits are taken when you start, and a file that is too long or in the wrong format is still charged.

Your libraries

Deleting is permanent. There is no trash.

Tips

• Say what the image is for. "A hero image for a bakery website, warm morning light" gives better framing than "bread".
• Fix one thing per reply. "Make the sky darker" works better than a list of five changes.
• For video, describe motion and camera, not the whole scene: push in, pan left, orbit, handheld, static.
• Draft short, then go long. Get the look right with a 4–6 second clip before asking for a longer one.
• Download clips you want to keep. Generated files live on Volnyn, but a download is your own copy.

FAQ

Why did I get four images? Chat returns a set of four to choose from. Use AI Image Studio for a single image.

How do I get a vertical video? Use AI Image Studio (/user/ai-image?type=video) and choose 9:16. Chat video is 16:9. Clip Genius always makes vertical clips.

Why won't a new video start? You can have three videos generating at once. Wait for one to finish.

Do I need a paid plan? On the standard setup, yes. Image, video and Clip Genius all need a paid plan. Without one, Volnyn opens the plans sheet.

If a generation fails, do I get my credits back? Credits are taken when a job starts and are not returned automatically. If something went wrong on our side, contact support.

Can I use my own images in a video? Yes. Attach the image, or click Animate on a generated one. It becomes the video's first frame.
